I will be presenting the Most Humorous Award @ the Pasadena Chalk
Festival this Sunday around 7pm!
The festival is Saturday June 20th and Sunday June 21 from 10am-7pm.
Artists create their work from chalk and then celebrate at the end with
an awards ceremony. I am so honored to participate in this event! I hope

Kevin & me @ Gallery at the end of the World
Dear Friends,
I love my random escapades that I happen into. Friday June 12th I went to see former Doo Dah Queen Naughty Mickie perform bellydancing with swords with the lovely Valerie @ the Gallery at the End of the World in Altadena (www.galleryattheendoftheworld.com)…..right when I got there, I saw one of My Princes was there! 
(photo by Julie Klima….that’s me!) My friend Adrianne was also showing, and I hadn’t seen her in months! Then, as fate would have it, Joe Piasecki found me amongst the crazy crowd and introduced himself. He’s the deputy editor of the Pasadena Weekly. I love being able to use this word….serendipitous! We chatted for a bit. I went to the show with my friend Kevin, who also happened to know people attending the show, even though I invited him last minute. I posted some photos below from the show.
The next night, I completely forgot about my friend’s wedding reception until my good friend Cassie called me so we could drive together. Ahhhh!!! Dressed and got ready as fast as I could. Told Cassie it was “fancy” but we didn’t realized how fancy! Our friend Arpi was married about 9 months ago in Armenia and this was her wedding reception. Very formal! Anyways, we felt a little underdressed, but it didn’t matter once the party started 
We drank and danced the night away! Arpi was so gorgeous! LOVED her dress! We made friends with her friend Narrin(I’m bad at spelling names) and she helped translate when people gave toasts to the bride & groom. I LOVE Armenian food! 5 or so courses. Amazing meat and also sumac was used in one of the dishes (which I haven’t had in awhile). Every table had a bottle of: vodka, wine, Johnnie Walker & tequila That is MY kind of wedding! hehe…….me and Cassie and Narrin sipped on the johnny the whole night. The music was great…..there were all kinds of generations dancing away the whole night! I love their style of dancing. Mostly moving the arms about. And there was NO chicken dance! Thank goodness. So I like Armenian weddings, I decided. Good food, happy people, fun dancing

Last order of last weekend—-PEACHES concert! I thought it was so hilarious to go from Armenian wedding one night & then Peaches the next. She’s a fascinating woman. One of the BEST live concerts I’ve EVER been to! Sadly, I didn’t bring my camera in. I wanted to experience her show and not be a documentarian for once. I took it all in. The guy before Peaches was AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. He was the worst! I was so sad. But me, Cassie, & KK waited for Our Peaches. She came on, fabulous as ever. A few highlights……..costumes…….oh wow. THEN in the beginning of the set…..she friggin jumped into the audience and CROWD SURFED! So f***in rock n roll!!!!!! She SANG and was carried by her fans!!!!!!!!! My friend KK said some guy tried to manhandle her and she smacked him with her mic Yay Peaches! Mid-set she said somethin like “f***k this state and proposition 8!” Everyone went wild! Then she called a few couple up to the stage, said she’s an ordained minister and she married the gay couples right there! LOVE HER. This concert was among my top 5 favorite shows I’ve ever been to. Some people might not like her music, but no one can EVER dispute the fact that she is a FANTABULOUS performer.

Dual with the Rose Queen…first step- Contact
May 1, 2009I contacted a PR person at the Pasadena Tournament of Roses association. We chatted for a few minutes and I told her that I mentioned to a couple of press people that I challenge the Rose Queen to a DUAL! (And that it was printed!) I’m sure she was quite confused. So I told her my broad idea for the Dual and she said she’d run it by some people.
Keep your fingers crossed! Or email people at the Tournament of Roses sayin you would LOVE to see the two Queens DUAL over the hearts of the Pasadenian people!

Hiking in & around Glendale
May 1, 2009So my friend Scott ( http://tropicostation.blogspot.com/ ) got me into the night hikes in Griffith Park, organized by the Sierra Club—- http://angeles.sierraclub.org/griffith/location.asp . I never really went hiking before and now I LOVE it!!! We’ve also gone to Brand Park and Stough Canyon. He’s my hiking buddy because I don’t know any trails I should probably figure it out on my own, though. In time………

Laura Friedman……New Glendale City Council member!!
May 1, 2009As of April 7th, 2009, Laura Friedman is a new member of the Glendale City Council! The night of the election she had a party at the Embassy Suites in Glendale. I met her at a meet & greet at my friend Scott’s place. She is wonderful and I think she’ll be a great advocate for the arts in Glendale! and MORE, of course. I’m a little burnt out from the Dodger game today, so I’ll have to write more later.

Rollerblading in Glendale
April 30, 2009I’m not so good at it. My friend Vera rode her bike to my place, and I decided, after a few years, that I would rollerblade on our excursion to Coffee Bean. So we started off @ Kenwood & Doran…..
The wheels on my skates just don’t like to stop! But I was determined to keep going………We were at a stop light and I went down on one of those yellow bumpy areas without stepping over it and…… BAM!!!!!!! I fell right on my bottom in the street! So funny! I picked myself up, hoping that people were in their cars laughing at me, and we went to Michaels. In the store I put my hand on my head and MY CROWN WASN”T THERE! The look of shock on my face convinced Vera lightning fast that I would perish without it! So melodramatic. So she saved the day and went back to get it!

As we left the parking lot, I fell again. But this time I put my crown in my purse. Anyways, it was a lovely day and I was so glad to fall in front of my lovely citizens of Glendale!

Strip Club in Glendale…..Not recommended
April 30, 2009Dear Friends,
After my roommate and I watched my recent purchase of The Bodyguard with Whitney Houston & Kevin Costner, we spontaneously decided to go to the strip club by San Fernando- Godfather-The Gentleman’s Club, “Fully Nude”. I planned to go to a strip club for the first time on my birthday (March 26th), but opted for the Red Lion instead. Wise choice! I love my German Pub
So we went on a Saturday night, which I would think is the best night to experience any club. We didn’t want to valet, but even then it was $3 to park on the dirt area next to the club. (For all who don’t know, this strip club is located by the train tracks next to the 5fwy & 134.) $20 to get in. That’s sort of reasonable for a Saturday night. (By the way, I’m typing this at 1am while I watch old episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on hulu.com while eating popcorn & drinking a cold vodka tonic.)
We enter through the red velvet draperies and a cute girl with a yellow thing on greeted us. I’m all nervous because I’ve never been to a strip club before, but she was super nice! I also, of course, wear a crown (a small one, it’s my “everyday crown) whereever I go, so she commented on it. I told her I’m Queen of a Parade. She laughed politely. We sat down (not at the stage). We watched at a table for awhile. Some of the girls were good. Some were AMAZING. One girl went allllllll the way up the pole to the top! I love appreciating a beautiful woman, just like most people. I’m not a lesbian but I am an artist and I like observing people. So that’s why I’m interested in strip clubs.
While we were there for a little less than 2 hours, we saw about 10-12 girls on stage. Now, I don’t really need to see everything, but it IS called a nude strip club. Only 2 got completely nude! If the girls aren’t going to be fully nude, that’s fine, just say it’s partial and serve alcohol! But I believe this club is into false advertisement. So not-so-fully-nude girls without alcohol. Very confusing. A couple of the women were “older” too…….probably 40’s. That was weird. Not that I don’t think women in their 30’s or 40’s are beautiful and sexy, but really……in a strip club?
There was a light crowd in the beginning and more guys came later. Of course they got creepier. There were a few non-creepy ones. All-in-all VERY good people watching! Not really my thing, however. Maybe once a year. Although I liked some of the girls, I was disappointed that I didn’t wait until Vegas to go to my first strip club. Ah, well. I’ll be in Vegas on May 21st!!!!!!!
